Appendix 45

During his ministry, Jesus under God's direction while following the script, enacted preview illustrations of important future events in connection with building Yhwh's Royal Kingdom and Heavenly Temple administrations. This study deals with one of these, the Lazarus preview.

Other scripted previews - Jesus's mock presentation in Jerusalem as its King, see appendix 42 and his mock battle with Satan, see appendix 41.  These all help explain why Jesus carried out some seemingly curious actions.

In March of the year 33, Jesus purposely set up a staged event, in order to record an illustrative preview relating to a more important event to occur in the future in connection with the Royal Kingdom of God.

Lazarus and his sisters were long standing friends of Jesus, whom he loved. When Lazarus became dangerously ill, his sisters sent word to Jesus hoping he would come and cure Lazarus of his death threatening ailment.

John 11:1 Now a certain man called Lazarus was dangerously ill. He was from the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2  It was Mary whose brother Lazarus was ill, who had oiled the Lords feet with perfumed oil and wiped his feet with her hair.
3 So the sisters sent a message to Jesus saying "Lord take notice Lazarus whom you love is dangerously ill".

It is important to note that Jesus was aware that Lazarus' sickness would lead to death resulting in bringing praise and honour to God and his Son as he said -

John 11:4 "This sickness is not to result in death but for the praising of God, so that the Son of God may be acclaimed through it."

Remarkably, after hearing that Lazarus was dangerously ill, Jesus deliberately delayed going to him.  If he had got to him before he died, Jesus had the power to heal him and prevent his death. But he deliberately delayed, and waited for 2 days until Lazarus had died.

John 11:5 Jesus loved Martha her sister and Lazarus 6 however after he heard that Lazarus was ill he stayed for two days more where he was. 7 After this he said to his disciples "Let us go again to Judea".

Lazarus' home was close to Jerusalem, now a dangerous place for Jesus to be seen.

John 11:8 His disciples said to him : "The Jews are now looking to stone you (to death) and you want to go there again?"

After waiting for 2 days, Jesus having been informed through angelic communication that Lazarus had died, said to his disciples -

John 11:11 "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going to him to wake him up." 12 So his disciples said to him: "Lord if he has fallen asleep he will get well." 13 However Jesus had been speaking about his death, but they thought he had been talking about ordinary sleep. 14 So Jesus told them straight: "Lazarus is dead 15 and for your sakes so that you will believe, I am glad I was not there. But let us go to him"

It took Jesus  2 days to travel to Bethany, arriving on the 4th day after Lazarus had died and been laid in a tomb.

John 11:17 When Jesus arrived he found Lazarus had already been entombed four days. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, less than two miles away,

It appears Martha had knowledge about the future resurrection that would occur during the 'last day' period. Possibly, Jesus had been teaching them many things about God's Kingdom and the resurrections that would be administered.

John 11:24 Martha said to him: "I know he will rise again in the resurrection, during the last day." 25 Jesus said to her: "I am the resurrection and life; the one believing me, even though he dies will live again, 26 and everyone living that believes me by no means will remain dead in the future era. Do you believe this?" 27 She says to him: "Yes Lord I believe that you are the Christ the Son of God, the one who is to come into this world."

Jesus following God's prescribed script, deliberately resurrects Lazarus exactly three and a half days after he died.
John 39 Martha the sister of the dead man said to him: "Lord it is the fourth day he must smell by now." 40 Jesus said to her, "Didn't I tell you that if you had trust you would see things deserving God's praise?" 41  Jesus looking up said: "Father I thank you for listening to me, 42  for I know that you always hear me; it is because of the crowd standing here that I speak to you, so that they may believe that you have sent me." 43  After saying this he cried out in a loud voice, "Lazarus come out!"

Following God's timetable, Jesus deliberately manipulated Lazarus' resurrection to take place exactly three and a half days after his death, stating that this resurrection would preview great things that would bring deserving praise and honour to God and his Son.  It would have a greater reality exactly 2,000 years after the date the preview was enacted.  For further evidence of this 2,000 year gap see, 'The 4,000 year Kingdom Plan'.

The significance of this recorded preview pattern of Lazarus involved a specific controlled death period, followed by a resurrection.  So what significant praise and honour would this particular manipulated resurrection bring?

                                                                        TWO THOUSAND YEARS LATER

So what event 2,000 years after March 33 is referred to in scripture as having a set 3 1/2 day death period with a resurrection following immediately after?

The information revealing this preview's reality is disclosed in the book of Revelation chapter 11.

v1. "And a reed like a rod was given to me as he said: “Get up and measure the temple sanctuary of God and the altar and those worshipping in it".

In sign language; God's Heavenly Temple under construction with its High Priest Jesus Christ was to have a priesthood of 144,000, this number was to be measured or surveyed
v2. "But as for the courtyard that is outside the temple sanctuary, leave it out and do not measure it, because it has been given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city underfoot for 42 months".

This sign language relates to the final selected group making up the 144,000 priests during the period of 2029 to 2033
. While serving on earth, they are persecuted during these 42 months (3 1/2 years).

v3. "I will cause my two witnesses to prophesy for 1,260 days (3 1/2 years) dressed in sackcloth”.

These last ones of the 144,000, during this time, testify about the Kingdom for 3 1/2 years, from 2029 to 2033 (1,260 days). It being uncomfortable work, illustrated as being dressed in sackcloth.

v4. "These are symbolized by two olive trees and two lampstands and are standing before the Lord of the earth".

This sign language relates to the remaining 144,000 who are grafted into spiritual Israel, symbolised by two olive trees, illuminating information about the Kingdom's progress, symbolised by two lampstands, while standing against Satan, "the Lord of the Earth".

v5. "If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and consumes their enemies. If anyone should want to harm them, this is how he must be killed".

They will require protection during this period and are backed by God's power administered by Jesus.

v6. "These have the authority to shut up the sky so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every sort of plague as often as they wish".

As Pharaoh refused to listen and suffered plagues, so it will again be during the 3 1/2 years of their prophesying.

v7. "When they have finished their witnessing, the wild beast that ascends out of the deep (Westcott & Hort) will wage war with them and conquer them and kill them".

Once their witnessing period is completed, the world political powers will kill them all (March 2033) .

"And their corpses will be on the main street of the great city that is in a spiritual sense called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was also executed on the stake".

They all die while serving God on earth.

v9. "And those of the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their corpses for three and a half days, and they do not allow their corpses to be laid in a tomb".

They remain dead for 3 1/2 days.

"And those dwelling on the earth rejoice over them and celebrate, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those dwelling on the earth".

By killing them, they are pleased to end their tormenting prophesying and witnessing about the Kingdom.

v11. "After the three and a half days, spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell upon those who saw them".

After 3 1/2 days, they are brought back to life by Jesus, using the acquired power of resurrection.

v12. "And they heard a loud voice from heaven say to them: “Come up here.” And they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies saw them".

These are resurrected after 3 1/2 days into the Royal administration of the heavens. To take their positions as priests in the heavenly temple.

This event takes place exactly 2,000 years after it was previewed by the Lazarus resurrection in March 33.  Revelation sets the time of these ones' deaths as March 2033 and confirms a death period of three and a half days, followed by a resurrection,
this time to heaven, its power acquired by a sinless person's human sacrifice.
